Marine and coastal section
2012 Programme of events now available. Come and join our newest section on one of their field meetings during the summer.
In its first year, the Marine and Coastal Section organised seven field meetings, two training courses and gathered almost 1,300 records of over 350 species. We also carried out Shore Thing surveys at four sites to collect data for the Marine Biological Association. Thank you to everyone who helped gather records of marine and coastal wildlife. The records will be shared with the North and East Yorkshire Ecological Data Centre and the NBN Gateway.
2012 promises to be even better, with a full programme of field meetings at some excellent locations. Everyone is welcome, so put your wellies on and join us!

This section was formed in 2011 to explore Yorkshire’s diverse coastline and record the fascinating species found from the cliff tops to the lower shore. YNU members have a wide range of interests and expertise, so this habitat-focussed section provides an excellent opportunity to share our knowledge and learn from each other about the variety of wildlife found in the marine and coastal environment.
