Yorkshire Naturalists’ Union AGM day
Saturday 8 November 2025
Location: Leyburn Methodists Church, Market Place (centre of Leyburn; SE11299045)
- Leyburn is only a 25 minute drive from Junction 51 (Bedale) on the A1M
- Plenty of parking in this small market town (free or pay honesty boxes).

PROGRAMME FOR THE DAY
10:00am Doors open and a welcoming hot drink.
10:30am
- Welcome by our hosts, Yoredale Natural History Society, Chair Dr Anne Readshaw and Vice-chair Gaby Baxter
- Presentations by Anne Readshaw, Derek Whiteley and Ken Readshaw on the wonderful fauna and flora of Wensleydale and Swaledale – the recording area of the Yoredale Natural History Society. They will cover some of the special plants, invertebrates and birds of this area.
12 noon Lunch. Bring your own lunch or explore the many eating places in Leyburn – a selection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and take-aways all within easy walking distance. Treat yourself to some real Wensleydale cheese! Take a 10 minute walk to Leyburn Shawl to enjoy superb views over Wensleydale.

- Followed by Presidential Address by Derek Whiteley on “The Peak District – Yorkshire’s Other National Park”
- Tea and cake to finish the day.
